Research
Research Interests
I am an interdisciplinary researcher with a strong focus on environmental sustainability, particularly in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), and Climate Action (SDG 13).
Currently, I am actively engaged in exploring key research questions related to environmental sustainability, air quality, health impacts, water resource management, and energy and power systems.
My research interests broadly encompass:
-
Air
(Indoor/outdoor air quality and health impacts, air circulation and weather variation, pollutant dispersion, greenhouse gases, fate and transport, atmospheric chemistry)
-
Water
(Water quality, hydrologic cycle, flood, stormwater, water resources)
-
Climate
(Climate change, impacts, variability, modelling, climate-smart energy)
-
AI and Remote Sensing for Environmental Sustainability
(Machine learning, deep learning, scientific machine learning)
-
GreenTech
(Decarbonization, land use and land cover change, sustainable urban city, resource recovery, renewable energy)
My work integrates advanced methodologies from machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and remote sensing to address critical challenges in environmental studies. I am especially committed to developing domain-specific models that emphasize reliability, generalizability, and innovation, rather than relying on generic approaches.
My research also emphasizes the role of explainable AI in sustainability, promoting transparency and trust in data-driven models. Additionally, I have a keen interest in scientific machine learning, including physics-informed neural networks (PINNs), which have shown great promise in solving problems across various complex domains.
Collaboration
I am passionate about collaborative research and currently have the privilege of working with esteemed researchers from Cornell University, Columbia University in The City of New York, and the University of Science and Technology of China. This collaboration allows me to engage with diverse perspectives and expertise, enriching my research and contributing to impactful outcomes.
